NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, OWNED
AND USED DOCUMENT HOLDER

A document holder (or wallet) that's been personally owned and used by Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte (Napoleon I). The item is in the shape of an envelope with a flap cut side in cardboard covered with white silk embroidered with gold thread, polychrome silk, and gold and silver sequin. The front features large imperial arms and embroidered "Kaiser Napoleon." The back has the letter "N" and the year "1805" surrounded by a laurel wreath and topped with the imperial crown.

In this document holder, Napoleon placed documents, money and other smaller items when being, much likely, on travels.

What's even more remarkable is that Napoleon later gave it to his brother, King Louis of Holland. Meaning that it has provenance from two of Europe's rulers.

The document holder is presented in a custom-made blue presentation box featuring Napoleon's "N" on the front. This is an incredible opportunity to acquire one of Napoleon's personal belongings.

Provenance: The document holder was given by Napoleon to his brother, King Louis of Holland, who later gave it to Alfred-Auguste Cuvillier-Fleury (1802-1887), the secretary to King Louis while in exile in Rome and Florence.
